FAQ's

What is laser marking?

Laser marking is a non-contact and indelibleprinting methodthat marks or engraves high-quality 1D and 2D bar barcodes, multiple lines oftext, batch number, lot codes, logos, etc., on various products foridentification, tracking, and tracing purposes.

What are the advantages of lasermarking?

Laser marking systems offer reduced downtime, the elimination of mostconsumables (both for cost and environmental reasons), permanent marks, andreduced preventive maintenance costs associated with ink-based printers.

What kind of materials canlasers process?

CO2 laserscan mark, engrave, drill, weld, cut, and perforate a wide range of materials, including: acrylic, foam, ceramics, gasket, wood, paper, plastic, textiles, rubber, stainless steel, titanium, thin metals and many others.

See Applications for moredetail.

Virtually every common metal (and a number of uncommon ones) canbe marked with fiber laser marking system. Precious metals, stainless andhardened steel, copper and anodized aluminum all mark extremely well. It canalso mark on non-metal materials such as aluminum foil, PVC, etc. It’s widelyused in industries of food, pipes, wires & cables, pharmaceutical, etc.

UV laser marker allow marking and processing to be performedwith minimal heat stress. Materials which absorb this wavelength very well andtherefore generate the best Laser print quality are PE, HDPE, LDPE, PP, ABS andPVC.

What is the cost of a laser marker?

SUNINE LASER offers CO2, fiber, and UV laser printing & coding systems to suit a range ofproduction and budget requirements. Contact SUNINE for help in identifying theright technology and model for your applications.

How much power will I need tocut/mark/drill my material?

Every application is different. The appropriate laser power depends on the specific material to be processedand speed required. We recommend that you contact us and our experts will helpyou determine the best laser for your application.

What fators should be considered whenselecting the laser marking system?

Factors to be included in evaluating the correct system consist of linespeed, spacing between products, material to be marked, marking contents, environmental conditions, and integration needs.

What sort of safetyprecautions do I need to take?

Lasers are actually safer thanmost types of machinery. Precautions are very much dependent on yourapplication. The primary danger of lasers comes from the possibility of thelaser beam being reflected from the work surface. An acrylic or polycarbonatescreen usually offers sufficient protection. Safety glasses or goggles shouldalways be worn when the laser is in operation.

Do we needspecial technicians to run the laser?

No. SUNINE laser printing &coding systems are extremely easy to operate and require no special training. Theyare designed for easy installation and operation. SUNINE also provide a varietyof training and service to help you easy to start the machine.

Do products need to be moving in orderto be laser marked?

SUNINE laser marking systems can not only mark products on a productionline but also mark in a stationary or static mode where the product does notmove.

How long does a laser marker typicallylast?

Laser marking systems are known to be reliable, and depending on the lasertype, the expected laser source life is between 20,000 hours to 100,000 hours.

Is a laser marking system capable ofoperating in humid and dusty environments?

Laser markers can withstand varying degrees of dust and water ingressdepending on the IP ratings of the machines. SUNINE offers laser markers withratings up to IP65 with suitability for washdown and resistance to dustparticles.
