Currently marking and coding of the glass can be done using different laser technologies. The best known is the Sunine CO2 laser or UV laser coding technology, which can mark the bottles“hot of the press", meaning as soon as they are shaped and while their temperature is still close to 400°C. Both marking methods create easily readable and resistant characters by means of engraving or color change, which are optically different on closer inspection. While the UV laser marks are even, finely rasterized areas, the resolution of the CO2 marking appears in coarser pixels. But in the production process, the CO2 laser proves to be much faster than UV laser does.
